This song was discovered two years after recording it. J had completely forgotten he'd created it at all. He'd only played it once – the day of its recording. Chanson is comprised of one take for the rhythm and one for the solo guitar. There were no additional takes to edit from. So, though there are some off-notes here-and-there, J decided it should be presented in the raw, as an example of “Creative Impulse” bubbling to the surface – captured in its naked state at birth.

Though difficult to discern without headphones, if one listens, one can hear small birds going crazy in the background. Since J had had no intention of ever releasing this recording for public consumption, he hadn't bothered to close the window while recording it – and thank goodness – the beaked accompaniment adds a nice, subtle layer of summer to the mix.

Srazhalys recorded a new version of the song for their first album.
