Dima becomes determined to avenge his grandmama's death. He remembers old Betshi's story of becoming a frog. Dima decides he will become a poisonous snake. He captures one and performs the magic as Betshi described and does indeed become an adder. He travels to Hitler's hidden bunker in Poland and awaits in ambush to strike him with his poisonous fangs. When Hitler comes out of his bunker to walk his dog throug the surrounding forest, Dima sees his chance, but just as he's about to strike, Hitler sees him and locks eyes with him. Through his eyes alone he forces Dima the snake onto his belly. Hitler's dog is barking and Hitler says to the dog: "What are you afraid of? It's only this man. This weak man."
Hitler then walks away, not even bothering to report Dima to the guards. Dima slinks away wretchedly...
